Dear reader,

This is the last blog entry on the InPlace site - but we're not particurlary sad about that. Next week, we will publish our new web site, at the same old address but with a new layout and fresh ideas. We hope you enjoyed this old one and we know you'll like the new one - we do!

The year 2013 brought a change for the Finnish emergency medical services (EMS). Previously each municipality (there are 336 of them in Finland!) was responsible for providing and managing EMS to its residents. Since January 1^st 2013 the responsibility has been with the Hospital Districts of Finland. This new entity is called Pre-Hospital Emergency Care.

Another year went by and we hit December 23rd again. And again I'm sitting here by the fire, enjoying the warmth inside after a day of enjoying the cold outside.

You probably remember when I earlier asked you to vote for Jarkko. Today was the day when the winners were announced in the Apps4Finland competition.

In the application class Karttapullautin was ranked third by a jury. This class was won by BlindSquare, which is a mobile application that with a voice tells the user about services close by. You can read more about it here.

According to the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment - ELY for short - you have the best chance of getting a job in the Ostrobothnia region.

In Finland the municipal elections takes part the 28.10. Do you know who to vote for?

The Esri European User Conference was held in Oslo 15-17.10.2012. From InPlace Ann-Sofie participated in this event this year.
She also participated in the Preconference Seminar: ArcGIS Enterprise Systems: Performance and Scalability.

On another note...

I went into my local garage one day a while ago and the owner told about this one lady having the idea about collecting teddy bears. The recipients would be children in hospitals and ambulances. She asked me to participate and the answer was "but of course".

The Security and Defence trade show in Lahti is now over and done with.
